Terms and refunds

dotheory.org publishes Digital Organism Theory. It is run by Henok Ghebrechristos, an individual author. It is not a company, a charity, or a nonprofit.

What is free

Reading Book One online, downloading its PDF, the concept map, the open questions, and the essays are all free. None of them needs an account or a payment. Nothing on this site is sold.

Optional payments to the author

• You can choose to pay the author directly for the published work and the research behind it. Paying is optional and changes nothing you can read.
• Each payment is one-time, in US dollars, for an amount you choose. The minimum is $2. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.
• A payment is not a charitable donation and is not tax-deductible. It buys no goods, access, membership, or standing on the site.
• Stripe takes the payment. Your card details go to Stripe, never to this site, and Stripe emails your receipt. Privacy lists what the site keeps.

Refunds

• If you paid by mistake, paid the wrong amount, or changed your mind, write within 30 days of the payment and it will be refunded in full to the card you used. No reason is needed.
• Include the date and amount from your Stripe receipt so the payment can be found.
• Stripe returns the money to your card. It usually appears within 5 to 10 business days.
• You can always dispute a charge with your card issuer. Writing first is usually faster.
