Henok Ghebrechristos, PhD
AI research scientist, engineer, and systems architect
I write about consciousness and conditioning, and build the software this Academy runs on. Book One is a fixed statement of where that work stood; the inquiry remains open.
Where the work comes from
For nearly two decades, I have tried to understand what our subjective life is telling us about consciousness, identity, fear, culture, and the reality in which they arise. I did not conduct this inquiry from a monastery or from outside ordinary life. I conducted it while studying, working, building systems, raising a family, carrying debt, making mistakes, and trying to understand why a life that appeared coherent from the outside could still feel misaligned from within.
I work as a software engineer, an AI researcher, and a systems architect. My training taught me to look for interfaces, state, feedback, adaptation, latency, and the hidden assumptions built into a model. It also gave me the computational language used throughout this book. If I had spent my life as a musician, farmer, or physician, I might have reached for different metaphors. I use the language I know.
